Gloria P. Cox

DULUTH, Minn. — Gloria P. Cox, 84, of Ironwood, died on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, in Duluth. She was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Waterman) McElevey.

Gloria resided most of her life in West Chicago, moving to Ironwood in 1995. In 1950. she was united in marriage to Joseph H. Cox Sr. He preceded her in death in 1984.

Gloria especially enjoyed taking care of her family.

She is survived by her three sons, James Cox, of Albert Lea, Minn,, Lawrence D. (Janet) Cox, and Joseph Cox Jr., both of Ironwood; her daughter, Sandy (Larry) Smith, of Louisville, Ky .; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home in Bessemer. Gloria’s family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Those of us who remain will follow her wishes by not mourning her death, but instead we will celebrate her life.
