BOISE, Idaho - Nancy Jean Lindberg, 78, of Wells, Nev., passed away on Nov. 8, 2017, in Boise, surrounded by her daughters, after a short battle with cancer.
Nancy was born in Ironwood, Mich., on July 27, 1939. She attended Luther L. Wright High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Michigan. While student teaching in upper Michigan, she met and married E. William "Bill" Lindberg, also of Ironwood.
They would move to Carlin, Nev., in 1963 where they both began their teaching careers and then moved to nearby Wells. Nancy taught in elementary schools for more than 40 years. During retirement she volunteered at the Wells Senior Citizens Center and continued her love of reading, gardening, baking, taking walks and traveling back to Ironwood to visit family and friends. Nancy grew up ice skating and skiing, and maintained those activities much of her adult life.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Esther and Toivo Makela; brothers, Willard and Kenny; husband, Bill; and granddaughter, Olivia Kemp.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kemp; and granddaughters, Lauren and Caroline, of Elkhorn, Neb. She is also survived by daughters, Gwen and Jane Lindberg; and granddaughter, Alexandra, of Boise; as well as sister-in-laws, Judy Makela, of Bemidji, Minn., June Lindberg, of Marenisco, and Sharon Usinger, of Hollywood, Fla.
Nancy and her husband will be laid to rest in a family plot in Ironwood at an undetermined date.
