WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Ero T. Kivi, 92, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away late Sunday evening, Nov. 19, 2017.
Ero was born on July 11, 1925, in Wakefield, a son of John Axel and Lydia Wilhelmina (Riipinen) Kivi. He attended a trade school in Ironwood.
During World War II, Ero was employed for a short time at a furniture and cabinet factory in South Haven. He returned to Wakefield and worked in construction and logging.
Since he was an avid outdoorsman, Ero was never happier than when he was trapping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed going to hunting camp and spending time with friends and family. Ero looked forward to watching his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.
Ero is survived by a brother, Evert, of Wakefield; two sisters, Aili Paque and Liala Vandenbush, both of Green Bay, Wis .; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Leo, Sulo, Wilho and John; a sister, Vi Maki; two brothers-in-law, Victor Paque and Robert Vandenbush; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Kivi and Virginia Kivi.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 25, 2018, at 10 a.m., at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield. Interment will follow.
