Monica M. Sybeldon

ASHLAND, Wis. - Monica M. Sybeldon, 82, former longtime Pine Lake resident, died peacefully early Thursday morning, Nov. 30, 2017, at Court Manor Nursing Home in Ashland, with family by her side.

The former Monica Wodlarski was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Wieczorek) Wodlarski. She was raised in Plover, Wis., and graduated from Stevens Point High School in 1953. She then received a Bachelor of Arts degree in home economics from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1958 and taught at Seymour High School, Seymour, Wis., for two years. She also taught at East DePere High School for three to four years and substitute taught in various other locations in Wisconsin.

Monica was a member of the Wisconsin Education Association and was active in church choirs. She was an expert golfer, skier and handyman and was very creative. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and creative talent.

On June 27, 1959, she was married to Edwin J. Sybeldon in Plover. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2017.

Surviving are a son, Jim (Ann), Woodbridge, Ill .; daughters, Peg (Brian) Vrieze, Champlin, Minn., and Lauri (Paul) Domski, Tijeras, N.M .; five grandchildren, Andrew and Audrey Domski, Matthew and Megan Sybeldon and Clayton Grubbs; two sisters, Betty Moerke, Omaha, Neb., and Patricia (Eugene) Boyko, Monroeville, Pa .; sister-in-law, Carol Sybeldon, Tilleda, Wis., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Monica was predeceased by brothers, John "Jack," James and Richard Wodlarski; and a sister, Cathy Connor.

Cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.

Luncheon will follow at the Liberty Bell Chalet in downtown Hurley.

Rite of Committal and inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
