WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Shirley A. Cisewski, 87, of Ironwood, died peacefully Tuesday morning, Nov. 28, 2017, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield.
The former Shirley Richards was born June 20, 1930, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred (Ellis) Richards, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1948.
She was united in marriage to George Cisewski on June 14, 1952, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Rectory in Montreal, Wis., by the late Father Coleman. George preceded her in death on May 11, 2016.
Shirley's caring maternal heart was a gift that she shared unconditionally with many and was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated hard worker who took pleasure in caring for others. Shirley, also known as Sassy from her younger days, was known for her pretty looks and vibrant personality. With her loving husband George, her soul mate, Shirley enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends which they referred to as "Good Times." She and George lit up the dance floor and danced as one.
Shirley's life adventures included a family and friend filled home, snowmobiling, bowling, golfing, an active member and past president of the Aurora Club Auxiliary working at numerous activities and the steak feeds, casino trips and cooking, especially making the best pasties. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special and dear to her heart. Shirley's four children were all born on holidays, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Fourth of July and Thanksgiving.
Surviving are two sons, David (Debbie), Ironwood, and Mark, Maple Grove, Minn .; two daughters, Sue (Art) Spets, Ironwood Township, and Beth (Jeff) Lauren, Gurney, Wis .; 11 grandchildren, Matt (Sabrina) Spets, Steve Spets, Ross Spets (Tara Tregembo), Jill (Aaron) Luoma, Pam (Joe) Ballard, Kyle (Kori) Cisewski, Connor Cisewski, Ryan Cisewski, Brenna (Paul) Erickson, Sheena (Ryan) Seppanen and Derrick Lauren; 16 great-grandchildren, Danika, Sawyer and Grady Spets, Sadie and Molly Luoma, Mya and Caleb Ballard, Kora and Kroix Cisewski, Andrew, Evan, Luke and Noah Erickson, and Madeline, Lincoln and Ryker Seppanen; a brother, Jack Richards, Barron, Wis .; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Natalie Seppanen; brothers, Roland, William, Norman and Tom Richards; and sisters, Clara Dyer and Virginia Moselle; and brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Myron Moselle, Bill Dyer, Goldie Richards, Evie Richards, Audrey Richards, Bertha Richards and Pat Richards.
Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ironwood. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rosemary DeHut officiating.
Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Spring committal and inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
