IRONWOOD, Mich. - Gerald "Jerry" Dale Olson, 77, of Ironwood, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at his home. He was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Littlefork, Minn., the son of the late Fredrick and Clara (Christianson) Olson.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964 with the Company E, 12th Engineering Battalion. He worked in the White Pine Mine for 32 years. Following his retirement, he worked various jobs. He was a member of the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard and the Norrie Club. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and spending time at camp.
He married Carol Saari in 1964; together they had three children.
He is survived by his children, Jerry (Gena), of Ironwood; Lynn (Wallace), of Hawaii, and Jason, of Minneapolis; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Cole, of Bessemer; his brother, Roger (Tracy), of Washington; sister, Carol (Bob), of California; and his longtime friend, Sharon and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred; and sisters, Julie and Irene.
