Marilyn A. "Mar" Murra

HURLEY, Wis. - Marilyn A. "Mar" Murra, 79, of Hurley, died peacefully Monday morning, Dec. 11, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.

The former Marilyn Weber was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Dalpiaz) Weber. She was raised in Hurley and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1956. She then was employed as a cashier at Erspamer's Supermarket for four years.

She was married to John "Jim" Murra on Sept. 17, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley by the late Msgr. Michael Prock.

Marilyn was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hurley. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Florida and throughout the Continental United States. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Jim, of 57 years; sons, John (Donna), Grand Rapids, Mich., and James, Hurley; daughter, Jean Murra, New Richmond, Wis .; grandchildren, Shandora (Gordon) Smith, Jean Kitzman, Cherie (Andy) Collette, Alyssa (Chris) Hahn, Julia (Tyler) Mancl, Ryan Friddle, and Mary, James and Grace Murra; great-grandchildren, Travis, Eric, Alisha, Brianna, Leilah and Cole Smith, Margot and Lukas Collette, and Oliver Mancl; brother, Ronald (Nina) Weber, Ellington, Fla .; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ken (Millie) King, Taylorsville, N.C., Bernard Murra, Hurley, and Elizabeth Vukusich, Anvil Location, Mich .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by a sister, Grace King.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM officiating.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, in the spring.
