Hurley — While Iron County District Attorney Matt Tingstad said he expects to file a criminal complaint with formal charges sometime next week, a bond hearing was held Friday for one of the suspects authorities say was involved in the death of a missing Lac du Flambeau man.
Iron County Judge Patrick Madden granted the prosecution’s request and ordered bond set at $1 million for Richard F. A. Allen, 27.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, Allen is suspected of first degree intentional homicide in connection to the death of Wayne M. Valliere Jr.
Valliere, a member of the Lac du Flambeau Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa, was last seen Dec. 22. He was reported missing on Dec. 25, according to probable cause statement. His body was found Jan. 1 in the town of Mercer.
An affidavit included in the statement alleges Allen caused Valliere’s death.
A total of five people have been arrested, according to a Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation news release.
Tingstad said the others are expected to be transported to Iron County and he anticipates bringing formal charges against those defendants next week as well.
The names of the other possible defendants are being withheld pending their appearances in court.
