LINO LAKES, Minn. — Arthur Merle Neuman, 91, died peacefully in Lino Lakes Assisted Living on Jan. 11, 2018.
Merle is survived by his wife June, children Benita (Gerry) Platzke, John (Paula) Neuman and Pam (Pete) Ranta, sibling Jane (Don) Johnson, grandchildren David (Cathy), Chad (Jacy), Geoffrey (Nikki), Ryan (Michelle), Jesse (Stephanie), Evan (Andrea), Garrett, Alexandra, Jon and Michael, great grandchildren Joey, Teddy, Henry, Sadie, Ani, Evi, Andi, Mason, Isak, Gerry, Walter, Emmett and Jack.
He was preceded in death by sons Daryl and Gary, parents Art and Evelyn Neuman and brother-in-law John Reitz.
Merle was born on Feb. 10, 1926, in Sleepy Hollow, Mich., to Art and Evelyn Neuman. He graduated from Ewen schools in 1944 and went immediately into the Army. He married June Hopp in 1950 and they made their home in Paulding, Mich., for the next 67 years, moving just recently to Lino Lakes to be near family.
Past jobs included long-time mechanic at A and A Hardware and Miller Auto. He retired as a bus driver for the Ewen-Trout Creek Schools and ran his own business, Automotive MD, along with his son, Daryl, for many years. After retiring, he continued working in his garage and helping out the local people of Paulding or anyone who happened to stop by who needed a helping hand or wanted to share coffee.
A funeral service is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Bruce Crossing, with Pastor Ted Trudgeon officiating.
