Ironwood - Tommy Libertoski, second-year student at Gogebic Community College, said, "Go Bold!," on the first day of the second semester on campus Monday. Libertoski, Hannah Plemons and Shane Cole were all taking a break in the Courtside Cafe within the belly of the Lindquist Center.

Surprisingly, each of the students was happy to be back on campus, with Plemons saying, "It's nice to be back, staying at home is boring."

Cole and Libertoski are graduates of Wakefield-Marenisco K-12, while Plemons is a senior at W-M, taking courses at GCC as a mixed college and high school student.

Libertoski is studying secondary education, with an eye toward becoming a gym teacher and coach, but he did warn this plan is subject to change.

Cole is studying criminal justice, so he can become a conservation officer, with plans to stay in the area.

Plemons is taking general business courses, but she plans on going into radiography.

When asked if the three of them preferred studying on campus or taking courses online, each student expressed a preference for being on campus.

Asked about homework and how heavy a load their instructors pile on them, each of the students said their homework assignments are not overly burdensome and manageable. Libertoski said, "(It's) not enough to complain about."

Plemons' favorite teacher is Dennis Mackey, business instructor and men's basketball coach, while Libertoski and Cole both said they enjoy Carrie Yon's classes.

Libertoski took Yon for social problems, while Cole said she teaches all of his criminal justice courses.

Plemons said she did not intend to turn out for softball next year, as she has to work, but Cole and Libertoski both said they are going to play baseball in the new program.
