Mary Lynn Strancel

DULUTH, Minn. - Mary Lynn Strancel, age 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Duluth, with her loving family by her side, on Jan. 1, 2018.

Lynn was born June 3, 1955, in Wakefield, Mich., to John Strancel Sr. and Lois Grant Funke. She grew up in Bergland, Mich., and graduated from Bergland High School in 1973. She attended Eastern Michigan University. Her knowledge, work ethic and positive attitude provided her with various employment opportunities. She was last employed as a risk manager at the Showboat Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. She was married to Rick Osborn in 1982. He preceded her in death in 2010.

Lynn had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Her smile and zest for life were irresistible. She had many friends and special pets through the years. She brightened the lives of many people with her humor. When Lynn had a goal to reach she was always able to succeed, no matter what the odds.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Strancel Sr., and brother, John Strancel Jr .; her grandparents, Lydia and Kenneth Grant, and Frank and Anna Strancel; and step-brothers John, Fritz and Robert Funke.

She is survived by her mother, Lois, and step-father, Robert Funke; sisters, JoAnn (Jeff) Hickey, Beth Strancel, Donna (Reese) Roberts, Tammy (John) Strasser, step-sisters Mary (Don) Majurin, Gladys Funke, step-brothers Gaylord, Peter (Kim), Larry (Lori), Dan (Paula) Funke, uncle Clarence Grant, aunts Mary (Sig) Hokens, Margaret Wilber, Lillian Bada and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has taken place in accordance to Lynn's wishes and services will take place in the spring.
