David Raymond Carlson

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. - David Raymond Carlson, 78, of Maplewood, Minn., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood.

He was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Ironwood, Mich., the son of the late August and Ethel (Lindstrom) Carlson.

David graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, with the class of 1957. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He later attended Michigan Tech in Houghton where he received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering. David worked as a computer programmer at the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis until his retirement. He was an avid reader and a gentle, private soul.

David is survived by his cousins, Betty Cornolo of Hurley, Wis., Bernice (Joe) Jezek of Marquette, Mich., Raymond Schmalz of Ironwood, and cousin and helper for the past several months, Mary Cornolo of Richfield.

The service will be held in the spring at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Mich.
