HOUGHTON, Mich. - Wesley Earl Hoover, 86, of Silver City, passed away peacefully Feb. 12, 2018, at the Omega House in Houghton.
Wesley was born in Potlatch, Idaho, to Wesley and Helen Hoover. He later join the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
In 1954, he was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Shirley. They had two children, Westina Marie and Wesley Harold.
While living and raising their family in their long time home in Silver City, Wes passed on his love of the outdoors to his children, and later to his grandchildren. He loved hunting and fishing, and canning the fruits and vegetables he grew in his garden. He retired from the White Pine Copper Mine after 30 years of service.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Shirley; daughter Westina (Robert) Larson; three grandsons, James (Holly) Matson, Joshua (Christine) and Jesse (Jenelle) Hoover; brothers and sisters, Elsie Cory, Betty Golding, Bill (Mary) Hoover and Bob (Jan) Hoover; three great-granddaughters, Madalynn and Abagail Matson, and Bella Marie Hoover; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley John and Helen Hoover; son, Wesley; grandson, Andrew; and sisters, Dorothy and Arlene.
At the request of Wesley, no service will be held this time. Graveside military honors will be held in the summer.
The family wishes to thank the Omega House for the wonderful care provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Omega house in honor of Wesley.
