PRUDENVILLE, Mich. - Charles Duane Gustafson, 67, of Prudenville, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at home.
Charles was born on Nov. 10, 1950, in Ironwood, to Charles and Lena (Chiaravalle) Gustafson. He grew up in the Ironwood area and graduated from St. John's School for the Deaf in Milwaukee, Wis. Charles worked as an inspector for General Motors for over 32 years before his retirement.
On June 25, 2011, in Las Vegas, Charles was married to Valerie Lynn French. Charles was a member of the FAD Club and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, golfing and woodworking, along with woodcarving.
Surviving Charles are his wife, Valerie Lynn Gustafson, of Prudenville; a son, Kevin Gustafson, of Grosse Pointe Woods; two daughters, Jennifer Gustafson, of Grand Ledge, Rosina Switras, of Flint, stepson, Gabe (Melissa) Watkins, of Florida; two stepdaughters, Jennifer (Donnie) Duttine, of New York, and Theresa Smith, of Clinton; 10 grandchildren, Jordyn, Dylan, Kiera, Lilah, Jonah, Kristie, Devin, Sarah, Taryn and Ben; sister, Christine (Steven) Kaderlik, of Ironwood; two nephews, Zachary Kavinsky, and Jacob Kavinsky, both of Ironwood; aunts, Florence Gustafson, of Cedarburg, Wis., and Luce Chiaravalle, of Burbank, Calif .; several cousins, Paul (Rita) Volley, Robert (Deborah) Volley, Kim (William) Rich-Large, Paul (Eva) Chiaravalle, Robert (Lori) Gustafson, Nan Hoepfl, Lynn (Bob) Conklin, Rod (Mary Ellen) Gustafson, Pam (Joe) Kuker, and Nancy (Todd) Grossklaus. Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services for Charles Duane Gustafson will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, with Pastor Ted Voll officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, for one hour before the service time.
