Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
BESSEMER — The execution of a search warrant on a Bessemer area restaurant Thursday led to the arrest of a Bessemer resident on methamphetamine charges.
Members of the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team searched the Black River Valley Pub around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, according to a GIANT press release. A Bessemer man, 43, was arrested as a result of the search. He will be charged with 20-year felonies for conspiracy to deliver meth and possession with intent to deliver meth.
The restaurant came to GIANT’s attention when investigators received information regarding a “suspicious package,” according to a GIANT release.
The package, allegedly addressed to the pub, was found to contain meth. The investigation continued, resulting in the discovery of a second package, which allegedly also allegedly contained meth.
Gogebic County Prosecutor Nick Jacobs authorized a search warrant for the restaurant based on the information.
Throughout the investigation, a team spokesperson said officers seized money and around two ounces of meth, valued at $10,000.
The man was incarcerated in the Gogebic County Jail in Bessemer on a $200,000 bond, 10 percent of which must be posted for his release.
His name is being withheld pending District Court arraignment.
