Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
MERCER, Wis. — Mercer voters will have a chance to hear from the local candidates on the April 3 ballot, as the Iron County Citizens Forum will host a candidates forum at the Great Northern Motel.
The forum will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and feature candidates in the town’s three contested races.
Jim Kichak and James Schmidt are running for a seat representing Mercer on the county board. Michael Lambert, Charles Schroepfer and James Davis are competing for two seats on the Mercer Town Board. Kelly Kohegyi and Karl Anderson are running for one seat on the Mercer School Board.
The forum is being organized by residents of surrounding communities, a citizens forum spokesperson said in a release announcing the forum.
Candidates will each give brief opening and closing remarks, according to the spokesperson, and answer written questions submitted by the audience to the moderator.
Amy Nosal, with the Iron County University of Wisconsin-Extension, is moderating the event.
Candidates and their supporters are asked to refrain from engaging in any campaigning activity, the spokesperson said.
