Frank A. Barbera

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Frank A. Barbera, age 89, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2018, in Ironwood. He was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Hurley, Wis., son of the late Phillip and Antoinnette (Macina) Barbera.

Frank attended Hurley schools, graduating from the Hurley High School. On Sept. 13, 1952, he was united in marriage with Rita Alessandroni at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood by Father Moriarty. She preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2008.

Frank was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. He had owned and operated Joe's Pasty Shop in Ironwood for 40 years. He was an avid golfer, and he loved playing bridge and chess. He was a member of the Gogebic Country Club for many years.

He is survived by two sons, Frank of Hobart, Ind., and Mario (Karen) of Ironwood; one daughter, Angela (Jim) Mahon of Mesa, Ariz .; five grandchildren, April, Crystal, Jessica, Mario, Jr., and Heather; and five great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Quinton, Jhaida, Presley, and Frankie.

In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by three brothers, Pete, Joe, and John.

In accordance with Frank's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
