CLARKSON, Ky. - Vera Joy (Thompson) Kohegyi, 81, formerly of Mercer, Wis., was led to the Lord on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in Clarkson.
Vera was born Feb. 21, 1937, to Mildred and Gordon Thompson.
She was married to Joseph Kohegyi on April 25, 1953. They resided in Mercer.
They had three children, Mary Kohegyi Hayse (Mitch), Clarkson; Joe Kohegyi (Kelly), of Mercer, and Gordon Kohegyi (Carrie), of Mercer; eight grandchildren: Peter Passuello (Nicole), Sarah Passuello, Joe Kohegyi (Becky), Jim Kohegyi, Joy Kohegyi Torkelson (Erik), Charly Kay Kohegyi Hefner (Josh), Gordon Kohegyi II and Alexandria Kohegyi; and six great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Trey, Keeley, Sydney, Yvonne and Vera Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; and three brothers, Wayne Thompson (Rhoda), Bill Thompson (Genevieve) and Tom Thompson (Eleanor); as well as her best friend her entire life, Vina Sleight, and husband, Dave, and many other friends and family.
Vera and her husband, Joe, owned Mercer Shell and Mercer Motors for 35 years.
She was also a member of the Mercer Lioness Club and St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.
She was also a huge Packers fan and snowmobiler, played women's softball on the Mercer Shell team and loved her bowling. She was also the first woman to own and ride a Harley Davidson in Mercer.
She moved to Clarkson in 2004, where she resided until the time of her death. She loved her horse, Belle, and her dog, Vernie.
A small service will be held at a later date.
