Harry Joseph Albright, Jr.

EWEN, Mich. - Harry Joseph Albright, Jr., long-time resident of Ewen, died peacefully in his home on May 5, 2018. He was born on Aug. 8, 1921 in Fontana, Wis., to Harry and Beatrice (Carr) Albright.

Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Mary Moll Albright, four daughters; Terri Gustavson (Jon), Katherine Davis (Ted), Gig Avromov, Peggy Galvin (Hal), daughter-in-law Sue Albright, nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two special sisters-in-law, Sally McGuire and Rainey Moll. Harry was preceded in death by his son Harry Joseph Albright III (Joe) and son-in-law Sam Avromov.

Harry served honorably in the Mighty 8th Army Air Corp in WWII as a Flight Engineer with the 93rd Bomb Squadron, flying 25 bombing missions in the European Theater. He was highly decorated, including the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroism and was a life time member of the DFC Society.

Harry spent much of his career employed by White Pine Copper Company prior to retiring in 1983.

He was active member of the Ewen Civic Association, Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ewen, the American Legion and the VFW. Harry was a 20 year member of the ETC School Board and worked tirelessly to see the new school come to fruition. He served his church and community with unwavering devotion and will be greatly missed.

Harry lived by his personal creed:

I believe in God.

I believe in prayer.

I believe in guardian angels.

I believe he made all women beautiful and all men worthwhile.

And, if you trust in him, he will never put more in your pack than you can shoulder.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. EDT at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen. Immediately following the service, Harry will be interred with military honors at the Ewen Evergreen Cemetery.
