ZEUS, VIOLET Rose, Sookie and Milkdud, from left, enjoy a sunny afternoon at Ironwood's new dog park Thursday. Bill Heikkinen, of Ironwood, left, owner of Sookie, a 6-year-old Siberian Husky he adopted four years ago, said he has been there all three days the park has been open. Lilly Newsome was enjoying her last day of school, wrapping up her sophomore year at Luther L. Wright High School, by taking Milkdud, a 6-year-old puggle, to the park for the first time. Violet Rose's masters - Jean and Jim Rencontre, of Ironwood - were sitting nearby at a picnic table under a tree within the confines of the one-acre park that is surrounded by a six-foot fence. It was the first time the 6-year-old rescue dog had ever been off her leash, according to Jean, who said, "She's loving it." Zeus is a lab mix and belongs to Kaylan Volaski, of Bessemer. They, too, were on their first visit to the park at the corner of Ayer and Bonnie streets.
