HURLEY — An increase in school lunch prices was approved Monday by the Hurley School Board for the 2018-’19 school year.
The increases are from 10 to 25 cents in breakfast and lunch prices.
The new price set-up will be: Pre-kindergarten breakfast: $1.35; grade 6-12 breakfast: $1.55; adult breakfast: $2.25; pre-K-grade 5 lunch: $2.50; grade 6-12 lunch: $2.75 and adult lunch: $4.
School board members were told a policy is being implemented in which students whose parents owe money to the district’s food service account are not offered the ala carte menu available to other students, but are provided the basic meal format that allows them to go back for more food if they’re still hungry after the first helping.
The school district has struggled for the past few years with delinquent lunch accounts.
