HURLEY, Wis. - Andrew William (Andy) Kangas Jr., 68, of Hurley, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018.
Andy was born Feb. 5, 1950, in Ironwood, Mich. He was a 1968 graduate of Bessemer High School, and then served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Andy worked construction throughout his working days, and was a very skilled mason. He then retired, having worked with Angelo Luppino Construction, Jet Construction, Tauer Construction and CCS Service, among others.
Andy always enjoyed driving around the area looking at wildlife and everyone enjoyed his wry sense of humor and his smile. He was also an avid smear player and enjoyed spending time with his grandniece Allison. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, hunting and driving.
He was survived by his siblings, Julie Kangas (Charles) Kopecko, Kim (Jill) Kangas, Wayne Kangas and Rodney Kangas; nieces, Lindi Austin, Jessica Falkowski, Charissa Kopecko, Amy Finton, Heather Kangas and Kyle Kangas; as well as lots of life-long friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Andrew W. Kangas, and mother, Florence (Benson) Kangas.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 28, at 2 p.m., at Rigoni's Inn in Ironwood.
