Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

Ironwood - Those visiting the overlook at Ironwood's Mt. Zion park near Gogebic Community College this summer will notice a new sign at the entrance to the hill.
Ironwood City Manager Scott Erickson said the sign was the latest in a series of improvements that have been completed at the overlook park over the past year and a half.
These included the construction of a new deck, improved seating and paving the road to the top of the hill.
Most of the improvements came through donations from local residents and volunteer efforts.
"The city ended up paving the road, because it is access to our water tank up there," Erickson said. "But everything else was through donations and volunteer effort."
Volunteers even helped design the sign and worked with city workers to install it.
The sign went up shortly before Festival Ironwood last week, Erickson said, at the start of the road leading up the hill.
"Where the entrance goes up, there's a gate there. ... Right at the driveway entrance going up off the road is the sign," Erickson said.
