CHARLOTTE, Mich. - Ellen S. Kangas, 94, passed away on Aug. 4, 2018, at her daughter Diane's home in Charlotte.
Ellen was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Ironwood, the daughter of George and Senia (Nasi) Lassila.
She married Matt H. Kangas who preceded her in death on March 5, 1987.
Ellen was also preceded in death by her son, Dennis K. Nylund; brothers, Edwin and Ray; and sisters, Evelyn Lassila and Elsie Stella.
Surviving are her daughters, Diane Trethewey and Marla (Stephen) Bunt; three grandchildren, Christie Trethewey, Rich Trethewey, Matthew (Rebecca) Kurta; three great-grandchildren, Destiny Trethewey, Patrisha Oberlin and Matthew M. Kurta; and two sisters, Elayne Matulik and Irene Brozzo.
Ellen was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood.
A memorial service will be held at Zion at a later date.
