IRONWOOD, Mich. - Alfred Rogers, 81, of Watersmeet, passed away on Sept. 4, 2018, at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital.
Alfred was born in Fenwick to Gayla and Albert Rogers on June 3, 1937. He went to school in Fremont. He married Elvira Dellorto on Aug. 6, 1959, in Corinth, Miss. He owned his own carpet business, Roger's Carpet Service, for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955.
Alfred enjoyed music, hunting and everything about the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he lived for 30 years. He liked sharing stories and he loved his family very much.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Elvira Rogers; his children, Duane (Lisa) Rogers, Alan (Jeannine) Rogers, Sandra (Gregg) Stade and Todd (Margo) Rogers; his grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel (Ryan), Steven, Brooke (Shane), Kevin, Alicia (Micah), Austin, Aleksander, Kelsey, Jon (Samantha) and Ashley; and his four great-grandchildren, Halcyon, Everett, Molly and Zion.
Alfred is preceded in death by his father, his mother and his brother, Maynard Rogers.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Cane Funeral Home in Bruce Crossing, from 9-10 a.m. CDT (10-11 a.m. EDT), followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. CDT, (11 a.m. EDT). He will be laid to rest at the Watersmeet Township Cemetery following the service. Pastor Ted Trudgeon will officiate.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life luncheon following services at the Watersmeet Township Hall.
