WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Karen Marie (Peterson) Libertoski, 75, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018.
Karen was born on Feb. 4, 1943, in Ironwood, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Champagne) Peterson. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1960.
On June 20, 1964, Karen was united in marriage with Patrick Michael Libertoski in Wakefield.
She will never be forgotten, leaving many loving memories, especially her weekly coffee dates with the coffee klatch. Karen loved to watch her grandchildren play sports and never missed a home game. She devoted a lot of her time to the Special Olympics.
Karen is survived by two sons, Patrick (Kirsti) and Scott (Angie), both of Wakefield; three daughters, Lisa Libertoski (Bryan Marshall), of Indiana, Amy (James) Bolen, of Maryland, and Heather Libertoski (Brad Oedzes), of Illinois; 12 cherished grandchildren; two dear great-grandsons; her brother-in-law, Dennis (Jane) Libertoski, of Kentucky; her sister-in-law, Peggy Libertoski, of Wakefield, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Patrick, on Sept. 19, 1994, and a son, Louis, in 1972.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084, 107 E. U.S. 2, in Wakefield.
A memorial service will follow the visitation at 12:30 p.m., with the Rev. Jeffrey Ahonen officiating.
Luncheon will be served at the hall immediately following the service.
A committal service and interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, in the spring.
