WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Norma A. (Mattson) LaMaide, 65, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 12, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Norma was born on Feb. 20, 1953, in Bessemer Township, the daughter of Verner H. and Lois Jean (Lake Jarvenpaa) Mattson. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1971.
On June 28, 1986, Norma was united in marriage to Maxin G. LaMaide Jr., at All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield.
Her hobbies included scroll saw and woodworking, flower gardening, four-wheeling and motorcycling.
She was a charter member of the Wakefield Fireworks Committee.
Norma was a past employee of Indianhead Mountain Ski Resort and Keen Agers. She concluded her 16 year working career as a sales clerk and price coordinator at Sunday Lake Super Market in Wakefield and retired in May 2018.
Norma is survived by her beloved husband, Maxin Jr. “Mickey”; a brother, Glenn Mattson, Wakefield; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sylvia and Maxin LaMaide Sr .; an uncle, Allan (Karen) Jarvenpaa, Oshkosh, Wis .; an aunt, Luella (Ken) Biendarra, Oshkosh; other dear relatives; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.
Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, in the spring.
Luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall following the service.
