Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
IRONWOOD — A post-Christmas snowstorm is shaping up here for Thursday and Friday.
The National Weather Service says there’s a 90 to 100 percent chance of snow both days for the Ironwood vicinity, with a total accumulation of 7 to 10 inches possible.
Iron, Ashland and Bayfield counties in northern Wisconsin are also included in the storm watch, with Bayfield County likely to receive the most snow.
With a high of 34 degrees predicted for Thursday, it may start out as heavy snow or rain, and ice on the roadways could result.
By Friday, the weather service predicts it should turn to all snow.
Winds could gust up to 35 miles per hour, starting off from the southeast on Thursday and then changing to the northeast on Friday.
Ontonagon County and much of the Upper Peninsula are included in the storm watch area.
