GCC seeks input for five-year plan

IRONWOOD — Gogebic Community College is working on creating a new five-year plan, what officials are calling a “Strategic Agenda,” which they hope will help guide the internal and external operations of the college. They’re also looking for feedback from the community.

“This is an exciting time for GCC, and we are seeking input from community members as we plan the future of the institution,” said Dean of Instruction Ryon List.

The survey will ask respondents to first identify their connection to the college through one of four categories — student, staff or faculty, community member, or business and industry. From there, they will be directed to a specific set of questions, allowing them to prioritize goals for the next five years and offer their own insights.

Overall, the survey should take about 5 to 7 minutes to complete, according to Kim Zechovich, director of admissions, marketing and community relations. The public can find the survey at this website: surveymonkey.com/r/gccstrategicagenda.

The survey will close on Jan. 31. Results will be reviewed by the college’s Strategic Leadership Team, which was formed to facilitate the planning process for the new five-year plan.

The survey is one method GCC will utilize to develop the strategic agenda, according to Zechovich. “In the coming months, GCC wil host a number of community forums allowing the Strategic Leadership Team to gain additional insights in to the results of the survey as plans are developed for the college.”

The dates and times for the forums will be announced. The agenda is scheduled to be completed by May.

But for now, List invited the community to complete the survey.

“Community feedback is extremely important to us,” List said. “We look forward to hearing from an array of stakeholders as we work to move the college forward.”
