ASHLAND, Wis. — Bernard “Bernie” James Henderson, 76 of Ashland, passed away on Sunday, Feb 17, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland with his wife and children by his side.
He was a 1961 graduate of Ewen (Mich.) High School. He met his future wife, Sue in 1969 and they were united in marriage in 1973. They moved to Ashland in 1972, where they stayed and raised their family.
Bernie loved Wisconsin sports teams, animals, family and his motorized toys. Bernie had many custodial jobs which included Munsingswear, Ashland Industries, Northland College, Ashland Precision, the Senior Community Center and the Evergreen Shopper, to list just a few of them.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Ashland; sons, Jesse (Pam) and their children Cassandra and Nora of Holmen, Wis., Joey (Sheri) of New York City, and Ricky of Ashland; brother, Rich of Milwaukee; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Leona (Gehrman) Henderson; sisters, Loraine Nadler and Evelyn Berg; and brother, Jack Henderson.
A memorial service for Bernie will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb 22, at the Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland, with Deacon John Grek officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home in Ashland and continue until the time of service.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen.
