IRONWOOD - The Downtown Art Place will celebrate Youth Art Month in March as it continues to provide an opportunity for area students to showcase their artwork and for the public to recognize the local school talent in the visual arts.
March is nationally recognized as Youth Art Month. It is a month of promoting art and art education in the United States. Thousands of American schools participate, often with the involvement of local art museums and civic organizations.
Local art teachers from Wakefield-Marenisco, Bessemer, Ironwood and Hurley schools, including Northwood's Christian Academy, and the students from the DAP classroom program will participate in this event and are preparing to submit art work.
The public is invited to an opening reception on March 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. The student artists will be there and refreshments will be served. The Youth Art Display will run March 7 through March 26 and will be displayed in the concourse of the Historic Ironwood Theatre. It can be viewed during the hours that the Downtown Art Place is open, which is Tuesday through Sunday from noon until 4 p.m.
