HURLEY — The Hurley K-12 School was put on lock down Thursday afternoon due to a “perceived threat heard elsewhere in the community,” said Administrator Chris Patritto.
“We did it under an abundance of precaution,” he told the Daily Globe later.
A Code Yellow was declared at 1:45 and lifted at 2:20, according to text messages received by parents with children in the school.
Patritto said someone in the community heard what they thought was a threat and called the school.
“We called the police and put the school on lock down. The police determined there was no threat,” he said.
Patritto said a Code Yellow means “we just hold everybody in their classrooms and try to limit traffic around the building. We did it just to make sure, and again, the police found that there was no threat.”
