MERCER,Wis. — Candidates will have a chance to make their case to Mercer voters before April’s spring election as the Iron County Citizens’ Forum is hosting a candidates forum later this month.
The forum will be held at 7 p.m. March 18 at the Mercer Community Center, according to organizers, and the candidates running for the town chair and two school board seats have been invited.
The forum will divided into two segments, with the town chairman portion starting at 7 p.m. and the school board forum starting at approximately 8 p.m.
Jeff Stenberg, who sits on the town board as supervisor, is challenging incumbent John Sendra as town board chair.
Incumbent Christa Reinert, Paul Chaney, Bob Davis and Jim Hanneman are all vying for two seats on the school board.
The spring election is scheduled for April 2.
The forum will follow the League of Woman Voters’ format, according to organizers, with each candidate making a brief opening and closing statement.
Moderator Neil Klemme with the Iron County University of Wisconsin-Extension office will present written questions submitted from the audience.
Organizers are asking candidates and their supporters to refrain from engaging in campaign activity at the forum.
