Ramsay Post Office temporarily closed, mail rerouted to Wakefield

RAMSAY - People looking to pick up their mail and do other postal business at the Ramsay Post Office are being re-routed to the Wakefield Post Office.

It's a temporary arrangement for safety reasons, according to Sabrina Todd at the U.S. Postal Service regional office in Grand Rapids.

A sign on the door of the Ramsay Post Office Friday afternoon said the facility was "temporarily closed due to structural safety concerns."

"Out of an abundance of concern for the safety and well-being of our employees and postal customers, the Ramsay Post Office is temporarily closed due to extreme weather and structural reliability of the building," Todd said in a press release. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers, every effort will be made to restore local service as quickly as possible."

Ramsay P.O. Box mail pick up and postal drop office shipments will be conducted at the Wakefield Post Office only, according to the release.

The Wakefield Post Office is located at 409 Hancock St. It is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

The postal service also suggests the Bessemer Post Office for customer's postal needs, although again, customers with P.O. boxes in Ramsay will have their mail delivered to Wakefield.
