WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Roy Eugene Kahila Jr., 61, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at his home.
Roy was born on Nov. 16, 1957, in Wakefield, a son of Grace Margaret (Fitzpatrick) and Roy Eugene Kahila Sr. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1976.
Roy worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield and Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley, Wis. He was currently a caregiver at Keen Agers in Wakefield.
Roy was a people person who loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. For many years, he took great pleasure in showing horses and raising dogs.
Roy is survived by a daughter, Nicole Ribich; a grandson, Bailey Ribich; three siblings, Wanda (Michael) Balduc, Wayne "Beaver" (the late Sandy Braspenick) Kahila and Tammy (James) Laessig; eight nieces and nephews, Holli Schaaf, Brandon Balduc, Stacy Horan, Mitch Balduc, Justin Laessig, Travis Kahila and Alex and Kayla Braspenick, five great-nieces and great-nephews, Isabella and Evan Horan and Tanner, Ty and Tiahna Schaaf; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and numerous close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Grace, Debbie, Renee and Mike.
The family is honoring Roy's life in a service at a later date.
