Ironwood - The Historic Ironwood Theatre evidently made the right choice Friday when it decided to show "The Princess Bride" in conjunction with this month's First Friday festivities, as over 200 people attended the screening of the cult classic.
Around 230 people turned out to watch the movie, the latest film the theatre has shown during the city of Ironwood's monthly First Friday activities.
"It's one of our biggest First Friday movies so far," theatre board member Cole Lahti said, adding the films as a whole have been popular.
"There's been a wonderful turnout all around. The community seems extra jazzed," she said.
The 1987 film tells the story of a farmhand named Westley and his quest to save his true love, Princess Buttercup, from Prince Humperdinck, according to the theatre's website. It was made by Rob Reiner; and stars Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant and Christopher Guest.
Along with the film screening, the First Friday activities included various downtown stores and restaurants staying open late and offering specials or promotions.
