Hurley - The nine singers and performers in Hurley's Silver Express are finishing up their final rehearsals in the coming days as they prepare for the concerts and subsequent spring tour.

The group of five seniors, four freshman and one sophomore will perform shows at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday in the Hurley K-12 School's auditorium.

The shows promise a, "Huge variety of music, from oldies to what's on the radio today," co-director Roy Haeger said. "I try as hard as I can to hav the kids pick most of the tunes, which you might think means they're all newer. But honestly, sometimes I'm shocked with the oldies and things the kids will bring to practice."

The week after the group completes its Hurley concerts, Haeger said it will kick off a tour of the region; which includes stops in in Glidden, South Shore, Arbor Vitae and Wausau

"We're staying in Wisconsin, except for one place - we're going over to Calumet," Haeger said.

The students, who auditioned to join the Silver Express in October, have been practicing for the shows since January after the group wrapped up its Christmas program.
