WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Lucille A. Wasielewski, 89, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
Lucille was born on July 15, 1929, in Wakefield, the daughter of Adam and Anna Lucille (Kuiawa) Selsemeyer. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1947. Lucille continued her education at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn., where she received her nursing cap.
In 1948, Lucille moved to Kalamazoo and was employed at The Upjohn Company. After living there for one year, she returned to Wakefield.
On Sept. 10, 1949, Lucille was united in marriage to Stanley I. Wasielewski at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield. They made their home in Wakefield and were blessed with three sons.
For many years, she worked at the laboratory at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield.
Lucille was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and was a supporting member of the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, canning, the outdoors, fishing and going to hunting camp.
Lucille is survived by three sons, Robert "Bob" (Gina), Wakefield and Tucson, Ariz., Stanley Jr. (Carol), Wakefield, and James (Geri), Hibbing, Minn .; three grandsons, Chris, David (Michelle) and Ryan, all of Wakefield; two great-grandchildren, Sara and Luke; her sister-in-law, Mary Selsemeyer, Grand Rapids, Minn .; many nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins in Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley, on Dec. 12, 2000; and a brother, Adam "Buzz" Selsemeyer Jr., on March 28, 2018.
Per Lucille's request, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
