BESSEMER, Mich. — Helen Ann (Vitich) Soffietti, 92, a lifelong resident of Bessemer, passed away peacefully Monday, May 6, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born on May 22, 1926, in Bessemer, a daughter of John and Anna (Berkley) Vitich. She attended A.D. Johnston High School and graduated in 1944.
After high school, she worked as a legal secretary for a local attorney and then worked as a secretary at the Washington School in Bessemer for eight years.
On Aug. 6, 1955, Helen was united in marriage to Eugene B. “PeeWee” Soffietti at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. They made their home in Bessemer and were blessed with two sons.
She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church.
Helen was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a grandmother who absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Helen is survived by two sons, John, Bessemer, and Michael (Patty), Iron Belt, Wis .; two grandchildren, Amber (Adam) Guglielmotto, Ramsay, and Brian Soffietti (Jessica), Billings, Mont .; five great-grandchildren, Gage, Layla, Rykkard, Geona and Kyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene, on Feb. 19, 2012; a brother, James Vitich; and a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Carl Anderson.
Per Helen’s request, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.
