Deen A. Palmquist

MERCER, Wis. - Deen A. Palmquist, 72, of Mercer, died unexpectedly on May 4, 2019.

Deen was born in Wausau, on May 8, 1946 to Howard R. and Evelyn (Heiner) Palmquist. He attended schools in Wausau and graduated from Roosevelt Military Academy, Aledo, Ill.

He graduated from the North Central School of Agriculture, University of Minnesota. He served in the Army Reserves in Hurley.

Deen moved the J.C. Campbell Co. to Mercer and later started and operated Lux Forest Products, Inc. and Lux Transport, Inc. & Construction. Deen served on the board of directors for the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association and FISTA.

Most recently he was a member of the Minnesota Teamsters Local 346.

Besides driving truck and operating equipment, Deen enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting, cocktails and meals with family and friends.

In 1981 he married Theresa Gibbs. She survives. Deen is survived by his three children, Heather, Karen and Eric; a grandson, Charles. He is also survived by a brother, David C. Palmquist.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerome H. Palmquist.

Cremation has taken place and the family of Deen will receive family and friends at a celebration of his life on Sunday May 19, at the Sunken Horse Saloon, Popko Cr., Mercer, from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
