IRONWOOD, Mich. — Madeline Rose “Maddie” Jackson, 15, of Ironwood, died early Saturday morning, May 18, 2019, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Madeline was born on July 9, 2003, at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, a daughter of Tonya Mata and Dave Jackson Jr. Maddie was a sophomore student at A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer. She sang in the school choir and was on the varsity volleyball team.
Maddie was a member of 4-H and enjoyed dancing, basketball, cheerleading and swimming.
Maddie loved spending time with her friends and volunteering at a local day care. She participated in an early childhood education class and was extremely proud to learn CPR. Maddie also took a babysitter training course.
She was known as a princess with a golden heart and Maddie was the best big sister to countless foster brothers and sisters.
Maddie is survived by her mother, Tonya Mata, Ironwood; her father, Dave Jackson Jr. (Christina), Menominee; siblings, David III, Harlow, RJ, Wyatt, Lucas, Nicholas and Emelyn; grandparents, Pete and Wanda Jousma, Pedro and Amparo Mata and Dave and Lynn Jackson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her sister, Lauren, died on May 18, 2019.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 31, at 1 p.m., preceded by visitation at noon, at the Range Community Bible Church, 610 U.S. Hwy. 51, in Hurley, Wis., with Dr. Dale Harris officiating.
