WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Laura Johanna Keski, 99, of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
Laura was born on Nov. 22, 1919, in Wakefield, a daughter of Nestor and Eliina (Lahti) Juoni. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1938.
On June 22, 1945, Laura was united in marriage to Henry Andrew Keski at the First Lutheran Church in Wakefield.
Laura was a faithful member of All Saints Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post 11, and a lifetime member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084. She enjoyed playing Scrabble.
Laura is survived by three children, Gail (Melvin) Ellison, Randy Henry Keski and Julie (Roy) Surprise, all of Wakefield; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including niece, Mary Ann Rolando Elliott and nephews, John Juonie and William Juoni.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry, on Dec. 28, 1989; three brothers, Isaac, Aimo Michael and Jack; and three sisters, Hilda, Linda and Aini Eliina.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, June 14, from 9 to 9:45 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., in Wakefield, followed by a memorial service under the auspices of the Ladies' Auxiliary.
A celebration of Laura's life will be held at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.
A committal service and interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
Lunch will be served at the church fellowship hall upon return of the cemetery.
