WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Norma Jean (Koski) Belmas, 80, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2019, in Wakefield.
Norma was born on Sept. 8, 1938, to Amalia (Cocco) and William Koski. She grew up in Bessemer, where she graduated from A. D. Johnson High School. She then attended Gogebic Community for nursing and worked most of her career at Gogebic Medical Care Facility, where she worked for 25 years. She took great pride in her nursing career and helping others.
On June 16, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ronald Belmas. Norma and Ron built a beautiful life together with two children in Bessemer.
Norma dedicated much of her life to her family and friends. She had a love for knitting, camping, socializing and traveling. Her beauty and smile left a lasting impression on anyone who met her. She was fondly known as Grandma GG by her grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her two children, Ronald Belmas (Loni Thomas) of Ramsay and Brenda (Randy) Zoglman of Bessemer; six grandchildren, Allen Barto (Cheryl Holt-Gerzine), of Fruitland, Idaho, Brad Belmas (Kim Leinon) and Mark Belmas (Anthony Sundberg) of Ironwood; Nikki (Tim) Lynott of Wakefield; Casey (Brent) Boersma of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Jeffrey Corullo (Lindsay Giackino) of Bessemer; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and extended family and close friends who loved, admired and respected her.
Per Norma’s request, only a private family gathering will be held.
The family would like to thank the Gogebic Medical Care Facility staff for the outstanding care they provided over the past seven years.
