GREENLAND - The Ontonagon County Fair was held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Adventure Mountain Complex in Greenland. The first Adventure Amateur Idol competition at the Ontonagon County Fair saw many entries and an enthusiastic audience Friday night, according to fair officials.
Kaitlyn Gielpse took home the first place and $100. She was followed by Kylee Uotila and third place by Lexie Voigt. The large audience voted for the winners.
The fair also sponsored Glitz and Glam Princess Pageant for girls Friday night. Winners were crowned in three age categories: 3-6 years; 7-9 years and 10-12 year olds. Fifteen young girls participated with Kara Sadlier crowned Little Miss. She received her crown from the Great Lakes Rodeo Little Miss, Anneli Store.
Mila DeHaan was named Junior Princess and her sister Rayna DeHaan took home the crown as Princess. The DeHaan girls were crowned by the Great Lakes Princess Jenna Joliff.
One of the many competitions in the food category was the Cheesecake Contest, which was judged Thursday night. Each entry had to include a recipe for the delicacy. Jenny Peters took home the ribbon for her Butterscotch Cheesecake, followed by Lori Picotte and Christine Brown.
