IRONWOOD, Mich. - Marian Elizabeth (Brottlund) Erickson, 97, of Ironwood, passed away on Aug. 6, 2019, in Ironwood.
Marian was born on May 7, 1922, the daughter of John and Mabel (Westman) Brottlund, in Ironwood. She went to Newport Grade School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1940.
She worked many jobs including waitressing, bakery, war plants in Detroit during World War II; and her last job was as a cook at Josephson's Nursing Home for 15 years.
On July 24, 1944, she married Leonard Andrew Erickson in Ironwood. He preceded her in death in 1976.
Marian was an avid reader and cook. She was also a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by four children, Allen (Kathy) Erickson, Terry (Darlene) Erickson, Kristine Perry and Rebecca (Rob) Nettles; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, John Brottlund; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; her brother, Willard Brottlund; sisters-in-law, Shirl and Alice Brottlund; and a grandson, Troy Erickson.
The family wants to extend their sincere gratitude for hospice and staff, specifically Mary, Carol, Matt, Natalie and Kokko for their loving car of Mom.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, Ironwood, on Friday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jean Rencontre officiating, preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials can be given to the Wesley Memorial Fund.
