Ann (Stempihar) Bonello

NAPLES, Fla. — Ann (Stempihar) Bonello, 95, of Naples, formerly a longtime resident of Wakefield, Mich., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019.

Ann was born on Sept. 3, 1923, in Anvil, Mich., a daughter of Frank and Anna (Verbonac) Stempihar. She attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, Mich. and graduated in 1941.

On June 23, 1945, Ann married the love of her life Mike L. Bonello at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. For many years, they lived in Wakefield and Englewood.

Ann was employed as a teacher’s aide at Wakefield elementary schools for 15 years. She retired in 1982.

She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield.

Ann is survived by three children, Michael Bonello, Venice, Bonnie (John) Watson, Marco Island, and Mary Beth (Dave) Niemi, Marquette, Mich .; seven cherished grandchildren, Ben (Heather) Watson, Dan (Kelly) Watson, Lindsay Watson, Paul (Melissa) Niemi, Scott (Miranda) Niemi, Nick Bonello and Hadley Bonello; seven dear great-grandchildren, Tucker, Emilia, Wyatt and Tatum Rose Watson, and Henrik, Oliver Reed and Noah Niemi; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Stempihar, Wakefield, and Rose Rossini, Ironwood, Mich .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Mike, on June 8, 2005; a daughter, Joann, in 1950; three brothers, Matthew Stempihar, in 1966, John Stempihar Sr., in 2001, and Frank Stempihar, in 2005; and a sister, Rose Harris, in 2011.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 407 Ascherman St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong, celebrant. Also, in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women’s Guild Honor Guard.

A visitation will be held and luncheon will be served at the church hall following the Mass.

Rite of Committal and interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
