HARTFORD, Wis. — Melvin “Mel” M. Williamson, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019.
He was born in Wakefield, Mich., on Dec. 18, 1933, to parents Matt and Linda (Hendrickson) Williamson. Mel graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, Mich., in 1951. He also attended Superior (Wis.) State College.
He was united in marriage on July 14, 1956, to Barbara Laughner. Mel retired in 1989 from American Motors/Chrysler. He stayed active in retirement working part time jobs, his favorite being his time at API. Mel loved the annual trips to the U.P. to celebrate the Fourth of July with family and friends.
Mel is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; two children, Kim (Paul) Wagner and Mark (Deborah); four grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Wagner, Melinda (Benjamin Silva) Wagner, Benjamin (Janet) Wagner and Stephen (Kyla DeQuardo) Wagner; three great-grandchildren, Donavan, Gavin and Emery; sisters-in-law, Karen Nahay and Carolyn Laughner; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no formal services for Mel. A celebration of life will take place at the Hartford Golf Club at 7072 Lee Road in Hartford on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 2 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to donor’s choice are appreciated.
