Rosalee A. (Peterson) Kutz

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Rosalee A. (Peterson) Kutz, 81, of Ironwood, died Sept. 28, 2019, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield.

Rosalee was born on Sept. 7, 1938, in Gile, Wis., to the late Leonard and Anna (Zanella) Peterson. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Hurley, Wis., Roosevelt Grade School in Montreal, Wis., and graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley with the class of 1956.

In August of 1956, Rosalee worked at the Lincoln High School as a secretary to the superintendent. She worked for six years and left to start raising her and Tony's children. She returned after eight years in 1970 as district administrative secretary to the superintendent, retiring in October of 1994.

Rosalee was married to Anton "Tony" Kutz on Dec. 15, 1960, in Pine City, Minn.

Rosalee enjoyed downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, water skiing, snowmobiling, golfing and bowling. She bowled in the Iron County leagues with the same five women team for 24 years. She also played cards with the same bowling teammates and her good neighbor friends. She especially loved going to the casino and her Green Bay Packer games.

Rosalee was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Eagle Bluff Golf Club in Hurley for many years.

Rosalee loved her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much, and was a great mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by a son, Mark (Paula) Kutz of Anna, Texas; two daughters, Amy Friederichs (Rich) of Ironwood and Holly Kutz of Hurley; five grandchildren, Tony 2, Danielle (Jake Lewis) Kutz, Jake (Amber) Friederichs and Kylee and Kaylin Kutz-Hewitt; two great-grandchildren, Abigail (Lewis) and George Friederichs; cousins, Donna (Paul) Pisani, Diane LaClaw, Cynthia Roberts; numerous other cousins; and her very close friends, Betty, Bernie, Virginia, Flo, Gloria, Jo Jo, Mimi and Liz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Anna Peterson; her husband, Tony, in 1998; and two brothers.

Cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley at 11 a.m. with Fr. Frank Kordek as celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hurley.

A luncheon will be held at the Iron Nugget in Hurley.
