Ironwood — The students and staff at Ironwood’s Luther L. Wright K-12 School experienced a brief lockdown Thursday afternoon in response to a possible threat.
District Superintendent Travis Powell said school administration initiated the lockdown with the Ironwood Public Safety Department and other local law enforcement agencies at approximately 1 p.m. after it received concerns about a weapon possibly being in the building.
“Law enforcement investigated and determined that a weapon did not exist and the initial concern was not credible,” Powell said in a statement.
Law enforcement cleared the building shortly after the concern was reported and Powell told the Daily Globe the lockdown ended at approximately 1:27 p.m.
