WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Gary Couture, 66, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, 2019, holding his wife’s hand.
Gary was born Oct. 4, 1953, in Ashland. In 1972, he graduated from high school in Butternut.
On June 18, 1977, he married Darlene Thomas of Ironwood.
Throughout his life, he had many jobs including working at Breakwater and Kenmar restaurants, Super One and Erspamer Grocery and operated a day care. He loved his dogs, Smokey, Comet, Lady and Sadie. He loved riding his bike, playing basketball, walking, listening to his music drinking Mountain Dew. Most of all, he loved supporting the Green Bay Packers.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Darlene, of 42 years, his mother-in-law, Irma Thomas, as well as many sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his foster parents, Anna and Fred Donz.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be conducted Monday, Oct. 21, at Pioneer Park Apartments activity room. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m., followed by a service at 1.
The McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home is assisting the family.
